Study international affairs
The Office of Career Development will host an information session on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. for students interested in graduate programs in the field of international affairs. Columbia University, John Hopkins University, Georgetown University, Princeton University and Tufts University will present. Topics discussed will include admissions requirements, financial aid and careers in the field. RSVP at www.nova.edu/careershark.
Disability awareness discussion panel
The Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement will host a panel discussion to raise awareness about students with disabilities. The discussion will take place on Nov. 18 at 12 p.m. in the Don Taft University Center flight deck. Students who have a disability will talk about their accomplishments de-spite their disabilities and what changes they would like to see in the university, state and country.
I-195 under construction for 19 months
The I-195 Beltline expressway will undergo a $19.9 million construction project from Nov. 15 to May 2012. The expressway extends from Northwest 10th Avenue to Biscayne Bay in Miami-Dade County. To ease access to the highway during the construction, two lanes will be added in each direction. Lanes will close at night and cause delays for people traveling between Miami Beach and Broward and Palm Beach.
200 UCF students cheat on midterm
Last week, 200 University of Central Florida students got the answers to their business midterm in advance. The students, who were planning to graduate in December, were asked to confess or they would be expelled and would be unable to graduate. All 600 students in the class retook the test.
Florida man builds flying car
Steve Saint, a Florida missionary, built a flying sports car called “the Maverick.” It is the first one approved by the Federal Aviation Administration. The car glides at 40 mph by air and goes 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. It will be available for a price of $80,000.
