Summer Break out Bands

There is no doubt that the summer always brings great music, and the summer of 2012 definitely did not disappoint. Three bands however marked their place on the musical charts with their new releases and instant hits.

Maroon 5

Maroon 5 is not the same alternative rock band that first debuted on the radio about a decade ago. The Grammy award winning band, which started out with its alternative rock sound, has moved into the pop music big leagues with their fourth studio album “Overexposed.” They reached the Hot 100 with the song “Moves like Jagger” featuring Christina Aguilera, followed by “Payphone”, and “One More Night”. These hits definitely prove that this leap into the pop territory has been good for the band, and regardless of how fans respond to the band’s creative switch, “Overexposed” promises to mark an important point in Maroon 5’s already highly-successful music career.

Neon Trees

Any fan of the band Neon Trees and their catchy 2010 song “Animal” will find much to appreciate from their sophomore album “Picture Show.” The album has already seen immediate success with the song “Everybody Talks.” This album shows that when honed skill, great musicality, and an impressive vocalist come together great music can be created. Neon Trees demonstrates some impressive and catchy tunes which may mean that “Picture Show” should end up as one of the year’s most tuneful rock releases.

FUN.

Finally, nothing says musical success like a break out anthem. That is exactly what the band “FUN.” accomplished with their second album “Some Nights” which featured the instant classic “We Are Young.” This song must be one of the most infectious singles of the summer. This album comes alive with its exuberant tunes, and strong percussive beat. The music on this album allows the listener to enjoy a thrilling musical escape, complete with theatrical arrangement and the insanely gifted vocal style of the lead singer Nate Ruess.

As the summer fades and fall rushes in, we look forward to hearing what these bands have in store next, to captive their musical audience.
