It can be frustrating picking up the remote control, scrolling from channel to channel, and finding nothing to watch. Well, not to worry, the fall season is upon us, which means the return of your favorite shows and choices of new series. Here is a short list of this year’s recommended season premiers and some new shows that you do not want to miss.
Season Premiers
Glee (Fox): Thursday, Sept. 13 at 9/8c
Where we left off: Eight members of New Directions graduated, including Rachel, who went on her own to New York, and Finn decided to join the army and end their engagement. And Coach Sue is pregnant!
How I Met Your Mother (CBS): Monday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c
Where we left off: Barney proposed to Quinn, but it was revealed that he ends up marrying Robin in that future wedding where Ted meets the mother. Ted rode off into the sunset with Victoria, who left her fiancé Klaus for Ted, and Lily and Marshall finally welcomed their son, Marvin Wait For It Eriksen.
Modern Family (ABC): Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 9/8c
Where we left off: Cam and Mitchell missed a chance to adopt a new baby, but — Surprise! —Gloria discovered she is pregnant. Meanwhile, Haley got accepted to college.
The Big Bang Theory (CBS): Thursday, Sept. 27 at 8/7c
Where we left off: Howard and Bernadette had a rooftop wedding just days before he blasted off into space, which the whole gang watched anxiously on TV. Lenard also awkwardly proposed to Penny.
Grey’s Anatomy (ABC): Thursday, Sept. 27 at 9/8c
Where we left off: The show had a shakeup after a plane carrying Meredith, Derek, Cristina, Mark, Arizona, and Lexie crashed in the mountains. Mark finally confessed his love for Lexie but sadly she died. Meanwhile, back at Seattle Grace, Teddy left the hospital for a new job and April was let go after failing her boards.
Dexter (Showtime): Sunday, Sept. 30 9/8c
Where we left off: Dexter delivered his own form of vengeance — as only he can — upon Doomsday Killer Travis. Unfortunately, Dexter was not alone—Deb, who returned to the church to profess her love for her (adopted) brother, walked in just as Dexter plunged and killed Travis.
Series Premiers
Go On (NBC): Tuesday, Sept. 11 9/8c
What to Expect: What is so funny about grief? Leave it to Matthew Perry to tell us. This Friends alumni returns as Ryan King, a sportscaster who turns to a support group after his wife dies. Hopefully, this new comedy will bring a slew of laughter.
The New Normal (NBC): Tuesday, Sept. 11 9:30/8:30c
What to Expect: Bryan and David hire Goldie, a single mother, to be their surrogate just as she is trying to start a new life with her daughter Shania. Mix in Nene Leakes from the Real Housewives of Atlanta as the tell it like it is Rocky and you are sure to find yourself laughing.
The Mob Doctor (Fox): Monday, Sept. 17 9/8c
What to Expect: This show replaces the beloved House, and talk about a tough act to follow. This is another medical show with a surgeon who has longtime ties to the mob. It is based on a nonfiction book, so we will see if this show can live up to its medical drama predecessor.
Revolution (ABC): Monday, Sept. 17 10/9c
What to Expect: From the creators of Lost comes another fantasy drama. In a future version of the world there is no electricity, and the central characters work together to figure out why the lights went out and how to turn them on again. If you loved The Hunger Gams than you’ll appreciate the hero of the show has many similarities to Katniss such as her excellent skills with a bow and arrow. With J.J. Abrams behind it, it’s definitely worth a look.
Guys With Kids (NBC): Tuesday, Sept. 11 9:30/8:30c
What to Expect: As the title suggests, this comedy produced by Jimmy Fallon, is about guys with kids. The three friends all live in the same apartment building and are learning the ropes of parenting together. There will be many dirty diapers, and three dads doing their best to raise their kids. What could be funnier than that?
These are some of my favorite shows and a list of new ones that I am definitely going to watch. Not to confuse anyone this is not a full list of the new fall lineup, but if you are looking for good shows and entertainment than these recommendations are the way to go.
