The luck of the Irish
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences and the Alvin Sherman Library will sponsor an Irish Film Festival on Nov. 10, 12 and 14. “Ballyman Lullaby” will be featured on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in Room 4009 of the library, “Bernadette: Notes on a Political Journey,” will be featured on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in Room 4009 of the library, and “King of the Travellers” will be featured on Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. in the Cotilla Gallery in the library. The event is free and open to the public. Learn about today’s Women in Islam
The National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association will host a presentation about the importance of the hijab for Muslim women on Nov. 16 at 2:00 p.m. in Room 2046 of the Alvin Sherman Library. Ghazala Salam who is the community and government relations director for the Council of American-Islamic Relations Florida Inc., will present the speech. Refreshments will be served. Music by students, for students
NSU’s Pro Musica Chamber Ensemble, a student instrumental group, will perform in the Don Taft University Center on Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. The concert will include Percy Grainger’s “Shepard’s Hey,” John Philip Sousa’s “Semper Fidelis,” and Gustav Holst’s “Suite in F.” The performance is directed by Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Adjunct Professors Phil Bracken and Casey Maltese. Learn about Hispaniola
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will host “Voila! The Discovery of Hispaniola: Colonization and Cultural Identity of Two Nations,” on Nov. 20 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Cotilla Gallery of the Alvin Sherman Library. The lecture will be led by Assistant Professor Michael Voltaire, who will discuss the concept of personal and cultural identity and discuss the history of Hispaniola. Apply to facilitate LOD
The Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagements is accepting applications for Leadership on Demand Facilitators until Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. LOD is a series of weekly leadership sessions that student organization members must attend that cover subjects such as conflict management, time management and team building. Interested students should contact Sean Ryan, graduate assistant for leadership development, at sr1616@nova.edu for an application.

Calling all frecklefaces to a musical
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will host “Freckleface Strawberry the Musical” from Nov. 21 to 23 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. in the Miniaci Performing Arts Center. The musical is a part of the 2014-2015 performance series and is based on the best-selling children’s book. The event is open to the public. NSU students who arrive to the event early may be able to be seated for free, upon availability. To purchase tickets, call the Miniaci Center box office at 800-359-2525.

Calling all singers

Auditions for the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at the Team 2020 Celebration, will be held on Nov. 24 from 6 to 7 p.m. in Room 309 of the Don Taft University Center.
