Faculty lecture to discuss relationship between gender identity, the law and abortion rights

The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will host a faculty lecture on March 12 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Alvin Sherman Library’s Cotilla Gallery. Assistant Professor Vicki Toscano will discuss the laws passed on abortion that are based on disputed claims about the fetus, pregnant women and women’s experience of abortion. Forensic science on trial

NSU’s Forensic Science Law and Education Group will host a seminar on March 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Campus recreation offering tennis lessons

Sessions will start on March 9 and continue through April 24 at the NSU Tennis Center at Rolling Hills. Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Attendees will learn tennis basics including basic strokes, footwork, tactics and rules. Only students and RecPlex members are eligible to sign up. The cost is $90 for a package of 12 lessons. Tennis rackets and other equipment will be provided for those who need them. Scholarship deadlines approaching

The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences offers many scholarships to qualifying students. A number of these are still open to apply, with some deadlines closing March 15. Drive-thru book drive

NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library is offering a drive-thru book drive every Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Clean out your shelves, call to schedule an appointment, meet at the library and the rest is taken care of. All gently-used books, CDs, DVDs and video games are welcome. No magazines or VHS tapes, please.
