Browns cut Johnny Manziel

On March 11, the Cleveland Browns announced that it cut quarterback Johnny Manziel in a news release that contained his stats with the team. The Browns acquired Manziel with the 22nd pick of the 2014 NFL draft, and in his two years with the team, he played 14 games with eight starts and completed 147 of 258 passes for 1,675 yards. Manziel’s personal life likely drove the team to cut him; amid partying allegations, Manziel was involved in a domestic violence incident with his girlfriend in January. RP David Carpenter signs with Tampa Bay Rays

Formerly of the Washington Nationals, David Carpentier signed a minor league deal with the Tampa Bay Rays and is eligible to participate in Rays major league spring training. Nate Robinson to try out for NFL

NBA free agent and former Los Angeles Clipper Nate Robinson announced in a YouTube video that he intends to try out for NFL teams. “Somebody give me a real opportunity,” he said. “I know I can play.” Robinson played in 13 football games at the University of Washington, making two passes and 34 tackles. If successful, Robinson will be the first NBA player to also play in the NFL in 75 years. In the 1950s, Bud Grant ended his NBA career to play in the NFL and later became an NFL coach. Broncos trade for QB Mark Sanchez

To replace retired quarterback Peyton Manning and free agent Brock Osweiler, the Denver Broncos acquired Mark Sanchez from the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional draft pick.
