Whole-y enchilada

With its modern hipster vibe, delicious food and laid-back atmosphere, The Whole Enchilada, located in Westfield Broward Mall, is a delightful change from the ordinary Mexican restaurant.

The Whole Enchilada has a very chill vibe about it. The restaurant is split into two different sections: an outdoor seating area with a bar and steel tables and an urban interior with wooden walls. Customers seat themselves and can walk up to the counter to order whenever they’re ready. The restaurant plays a collection of R&B oldies, contributing to the hip and chill ambiance.

In regards to food, The Whole Enchilada offers a variety of high-quality Mexican options. They make the burritos fresh, right as they’re ordered. Customers can customize their own burritos to fit their tastes and only spend from $6 to $9 to do so. The Whole Enchilada lets you choose between charbroiled chicken, steak, ground beef, pork, seared tofu, fresh mahi-mahi or grilled shrimp. Customers can also make their burritos enchilada style and top them with the restaurant’s special red sauce, cheese and sour cream for an additional $1.29. Customers can also add on a side of beans and rice to any burrito for $1.99.

Also worth trying are the delicious chips and queso. The chips, freshly made in the restaurant, are thin, hot and crispy, the perfect accompaniment for the restaurant’s warm, creamy queso. The Whole Enchilada will also add beef to the queso, a tasty, savory inclusion, for no additional charge. Every lover of chips and queso needs to try them.

The salsa bar is the restaurant’s only drawback, particularly if you’re a fan of spicy food. The Whole Enchilada has multiple varieties of salsa, but none of them have much flavor. None of the options were really spicy, and the mango salsa was also too sweet for my liking. If you’re craving chips and salsa, stick to Chipotle.

The Whole Enchilada is pretty affordable, as meals typically cost between $3 and $12. The most expensive item on the menu is called The Ex-Wife, and it’s $39.99, with six pounds of Mexican Rice, black or pinto beans, jack and cheddar cheese, salsa, guacamole, lettuce, sour cream and your pick of charbroiled chicken, ground beef, pork or tofu along with a side of chips. If you choose to take on this challenge, you have 45 minutes to eat it, and if you succeed, the burrito is free, and you will receive a The Whole Enchilada T-shirt.

Overall, the atmosphere, customer service and, most importantly, the food at The Whole Enchilada are very satisfying and fulfilling. If you’re looking to enjoy a nice Mexican meal, this is definitely the place.
