Afrotopia: Art and the Politics of Representation, an African Presence Art Exhibit

The Division of Public Relations and Marketing Communication will host Afrotopia, the 14th annual African Presence Art Exhibition. The exhibition will feature works by Philippe Dodard, Lorenzo Pace and Nakazzi.

 Black Superwomen

UC Pit

The Black Student Union is set to host a panel event Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the UC Pit. This event will focus on discussing and finding a resolution to the stigma in our society known as “Black Superwoman.” Panelists from the local NSU community will share their thoughts and experiences related to the topic.

Black Gaming

The Black Student Union and the Society of Anime and Gaming (SAGE), will be teaming up to present a mixture of fun and education. Their event will educate the NSU population about Black History Month with regards to Gerald Lawson, the inventor of the game cartridge.

The Black Law Student Association and the Caribbean Law Student Association are hosting a panel of legal professionals to discuss the current presidential election, policies and its effect on minority communities.

Trump’s In, Now What?

Feb. 21, 6:30 p.m.

UC Pit

NSU’s Black Student Union will host a community discussion, panel and forum between political and multicultural organizations on campus to discuss recent changes in the political climate. Outside community professionals may also be brought in to enrich conversation and present progressive ideas on the subject matter.

“13” Movie Showing

Feb. 28, 8 p.m.

Shepard Broad College of Law Library

The Black Law Student Association is hosting a showing of the movie “13.”  The movie “13” explores the history of racial inequality in the United States. At the end of the movie there will be a student panel discussing the issues raised within the movie.
