Shark Speak: “What do you think of the Trump administration’s decisions so far?”

alec wilde

Alec Wilde, senior biology major

“I don’t really care; don’t really have an opinion on it.”

jacob grey

Jacob Grey, sophomore marine biology major

“I don’t agree with a lot of the stuff that he’s doing, especially with the banning of a lot of Muslim nations. Also, a lot of his policies involving environmental change, like banning the EPA from speaking out, it really, really bothers me. Especially because I consider myself environmentally friendly, so it hurts me and makes me feel unhappy.

michael mackenzie

Michael Mackenzie, sophomore global marketing major

“I really feel like Trump is a huge bully because he’s really dividing the country. We are more powerful as one, not separate entities. The whole Muslim ban is ridiculous; the last attack from somebody from those banned countries was in 2001 [which was] years and years ago. Just for him to do that shows that he is nothing but full of hate.”

shona joseph

Shona Joseph, senior biology major

“I obviously don’t really approve of him. I’m kind of a liberal person and don’t approve of his racism and sexism, and don’t think his policies are very effective and are just going to hurt America. I think the best thing we can do right now is work against him, hope for the best and make sure his policies are not hurting us.”

emily harrington

Emily Harrington, senior environmental science major

“I’m an environmental science major, and I’m headed toward the naturalist field so I kind of feel obligated to not be a Trump supporter, because he doesn’t believe in climate change and the steps he’s taking currently are extremely extreme, I guess, and kind of terrifying. The protests are hard to get behind because it is hard to think that they will change anything.”

jocelyn hunter

Jocelyn Hunter, freshman biology major

“I think he’s putting people in places that they don’t really know much about. Betsy DeVos, as the head as education.  I don’t think she’s fit to to be head of education, and I think he should just do better.”
