Basketball player faces court for misdemeanor assault and criminal trespass

According to ESPN, former New York Knick, Charles Oakley, was arrested after a mid-game altercation with Madison Square Garden employees after being asked to leave the building. He was “charged with three counts of misdemeanor assault and one count of criminal trespass.” Per ESPN’s website, Oakley will be due in court regarding the incident sometime in March.

 

Bob Costas resigns as host of Olympics

Bob Costas announced on the Today Show on NBC that he is stepping down as the host of the Olympics. Mike Tirico, a familiar face on NBC Sports, will be taking over for Costas beginning with the Winter Olympics in South Korea. According to KSDK, the NBC affiliate in St. Louis, Missouri, the Summer Olympics in Rio were his 11th as NBC’s prime-time host.

 

Falcons hire Steve Sarkisian

After the Falcons lost in Super Bowl LI, the team announced they had hired Steve Sarkisian. Sarkisian was recently hired by the University of Alabama after his stint as head coach at the University of Southern California. According to sbnation.com, Sarkisian and head coach Nick Saban had differences in opinion over “system philosophy.”
