Maryland high school shooter dies, armed resource officer intervenes
A student of Great Mills High School in southern Maryland opened fire on March 20. The shooting began shortly after classes began, according to USA Today. The school’s student resource officer was alerted of the event and fired at the 17-year-old gunman. St. Mary’s County Sheriff, Tim Cameron, stated that it was unclear if the student shot himself or if he fired at the resource officer. One student was injured, and another, who allegedly recently ended a relationship with the gunman, Jaelyn Willey, later died of her injuries. The officer was unharmed.
Austin serial bomber suspect dies, leaves confession video
Austin Police Chief Bryan Manley said the suspect of the bombings around Texas made a 25-minute video where he confessed to the crimes. The 23-year-old suspect blew himself up in his car as police were getting close to finding him, according to USA Today. As of March 22, no accomplices have been identified and it is still unknown if the suspect worked alone.
President Trump puts tariffs on China
On Thursday, President Trump ordered tariffs to be put on imported goods from China. According to CNN, the President also plans to take action against the World Trade Organization. Beijing has stated that they will retaliate if the tariffs go through.
Trump’s leading lawyer resigns due to strategy disagreements
John Dowd, Trump’s leading lawyer in the special counsel investigation resigned on Thursday, March 22. According to the New York Times, Dowd considered leaving several times during the case. Dowd’s resignation could indicate growing frustrations the President has with the special counsel.
