The Scripps Research Institute Visit and Tour
Oct. 24 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Students are offered the chance to take a tour of the Scripps Research Institute and learn about undergraduate research opportunities and postdoctoral programs. To participate, students must submit an essay on how the visit would “assist in reaching their career goals and/or enhance their overall professional development,” according to the Office of Career Development. Lunch and transportation to and from the event will be provided. At the event, professional attire is required. Students will also be required to sign a waiver for transportation.
HACU (Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities) Internship Information Session
Oct. 24 12 – 1 p.m.
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities will have an information session regarding paid internship opportunities in the Washington, D.C. area with government departments and corporations. Some of the internships that will be discussed include, the Library of Congress, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Goldman Sachs and General Electric. One-on-one sessions with HACU representatives are available from 3:30 to 5 p.m..
Trick to the Treat of a Research or Internship Experience
Oct. 31 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The Office of Career Development and the Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography will host their seventh annual Trick to the Treat of an Internship or Research Experience on Oct. 31 in the Adolfo and Marisela Cotilla Gallery in the Alvin Sherman Library, for students interested in research, medical or other science related internships.
