13th Annual I Care I Cure 5K 

On Feb. 29 starting at 7 a.m., the childhood cancer foundation, I Care I Cure. will be holding a 5K and a color run. The aim of the event is to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer and gentler treatments. If interested in participating in either race, registration can be completed in person the day of the runs or prior to the race online. The organization is also in need of volunteers for the event. Volunteers are needed for pre-race events occurring Feb. 26-28 as well as for the day of the 5K. The form for volunteers can be found on the SharkFins website. 

UNIV 1000 Peer Leader application open

The application for students to become Peer Leaders for the fall 2020 semester is open from now until March 1. The Office of Experiential Education is searching for students who have displayed empathy, communication skills, engagement and are in good academic standing. Students interested in applying can do so online through Handshake. If students have any questions about the job or application, they should reach out to the Office of Experiential Education at exel@nova.edu.

The Age of Innocence lecture

On March 13 in the Alvin Sherman Library, a presentation on “The Age of Innocence,” a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Edith Wharton, will be held. The presentation is in celebration of the centennial anniversary of the classic novel. Susan Wissler, executive director of The Mount— the home in which Wharton lived and now a historical site in western Massachusetts — will be sharing her insight on the significance of the novel and what makes it a classic and impactful novel. The event will be held in the Cotilla Gallery on the second floor of the library from 10 a.m. to noon. The presentation is free and open to the public. If interested in attending, RSVP can be found on the Alvin Sherman Library website. 

Nova Singers concerts

The Nova Singers will be holding concerts through the spring season in conjunction with the After School Chorus of Floranada Elementary School to present the show, “Mass of the Children.” The Nova Singers are an all-volunteer choir with approximately 140 members ranging from undergraduate students to seniors in the local community. The first concert will be held on March 13 at 8 p.m. at the St. Joseph Episcopal Church in Boynton Beach. Students with ID have free admission to the concert and general admission at the door is $20.
