As college students, food insecurity is sometimes something we deal with. With COVID-19 continuing to affect us and our communities, we might be even more concerned with food insecurities. Here are some organizations offering free meals in an effort to make sure families aren’t going to sleep hungry.
Broward County Public Schools
In a total of 51 locations, Broward County Public Schools are offering grab-n-go meal services in designated locations on different campuses on Mondays and Wednesdays. For a list of schools distributing free meals, visit browardschools.com/coronavirus.
Farm Share
Farm Share is a local non-profit currently distributing fresh food to families in need around South Florida. Partnering with Lyft to deliver to those who can’t reach distribution sites, Farm Share is including fresh produce, frozen proteins, non-perishable goods and bottled water in their bags. Feeding South Florida
If you qualify on the income eligibility form, Feeding South Florida is providing drive-through locations for grab-n-go meals across South Florida. For more information, visit farmshare.org/food-distributions/.
Inter Miami CF and DeliverLean
On Wednesdays, at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, FL, DeliverLean will distribute fresh meals or non-perishable food items on a first-come, first-served basis for those in need. For more information, visit deliverleancares.com.
