Jensen Le is a graduate student studying physical therapy at NSU’s Tampa Bay Campus. Le is also a member of the NSU D.P.T. Program (Doctor in Physical Therapy) and serves as the treasurer for SGA.

In September 2019, NSU expanded its reach by opening a new campus in the Tampa Bay area. The Tampa Bay Regional Campus is an extension of NSU created for students to continue their endeavors. Here is Jensen Le’s experience in today’s climate.

What is it like being an NSU regional campus student?

“It’s wonderful being able to set my own schedule as well as utilize the beautiful new campus and all of its facilities… Student Government and Student Affairs [do] a pretty good job of sponsoring events that are in person and virtual to keep the students involved.”

Given you are a graduate student, what new skills or lessons have you learned at NSU?

“I’ve learned to be more responsible for my active learning. I’ve learned that, although taking notes and watching lectures worked well in undergrad, getting a doctorate takes a lot of hands-on practice.

How has today’s world events, like COVID-19 and the protests, affected your academics?

“It’s actually become a lot easier. My experience is maybe different than others, but so far, staying home and not having to work has made academics my only task… Now, it’s with a heavy heart that I have to watch and experience all the suffering occurring, but. I must understand how fortunate and privileged I am to not be negatively affected.”

Have things been very concerning for you with the recent protests?

“I recently attended a local, peaceful protest and have intentions on continuing my support for my brothers and sisters who fight for social justice. So, they don’t really concern me, if anything, they inspire me.”
