NSU hosts Ranger Challenge for ROTC programs

On Jan 30, NSU ROTC along with NSU cadets and the NSU Military Affairs Veteran Resource Center office hosted the Florida Atlantic University (FAU) V. Florida International University (FIU) Southern Strike Ranger Challenge. At this event, participants represented four local college  ROTC programs, FIU, FAU, NSU and University of Miami (UM), and competed in five events, which tested their mental and physical endurance with memory and written tests, artillery re-supply, sled drag and other procedures. In this Ranger Challenge, participants were split into two teams Task Force (TF) North and Task Force South.

The final results of this competition came in with Task Force North, which consisted of students from FAU and NSU, taking home the victory with 3,625 points and Task Force South, cadets from UM and FIU, finishing with 3,458 points.

According to Dyllan Yarbrough, an FAU cadet of Task Force North, this event was a good foundation to see where they were, both physically and mentally, by the challenges that were placed in front of them.

“I feel as if every cadet executed it exactly how we were intended to with integrity and dedication. This event meant a lot to Task Force North since we are very competitive and love a friendly competition. As I like to say, we ‘showed up and performed’ and that goes for everything you do in life,” said Yarbrough.
