NSU honors Anthony J. DeNapoli with a flag display

Anthony J. DeNapoli was a beloved member of the NSU community for 25 years. DeNapoli served as the dean of undergraduate admissions, and before he took on that role, he was the associate dean of international affairs. DeNapoli spread kindness to each of the students, faculty and staff members he interacted with and helped during his time at the university. 

 

To honor his legacy of working towards a community that worked hand in hand, no matter where you came from, NSU hosted an international flag display as a tribute. The event was hosted over Zoom, and over three hundred people attended the event — many of whom submitted videos that shared fond memories and lessons learned from their time spent with DeNapoli. DeNapoli and his legacy will not only live on at NSU, but it will live on in those whose lives he has touched, the hearts of those he helped and the minds of those who knew him.

 

NSU honored the late DeNapoli on Feb. 26 with a virtual flag tribute followed by a series of student and staff testimonials.
DeNapoli will live on in the hearts, minds and memories of the students and staff of NSU.
DeNapoli’s legacy will be remembered as creating a more open and accepting space for students to work together and make progress in their communities.
Many spoke of DeNapoli’s kind heart, friendliness and internationalized worldview in their submitted testimonials. During his time at NSU, he had impacted many in an extremely positive way.
Over 300 people attended the virtual celebration of life online, and many staff and students submitted videos reminiscing on how DeNapoli impacted both their time at NSU and their lives.
After the flag parade finished, videos that had been submitted remembering DeNapoli and his work at NSU were shared during the virtual tribute.
The flag tribute involved a memorial flag display where all of the flags were spun in unison. The students holding the flags spun the flags dutifully in honor of DeNapoli’s legacy.
The students held the flags and proceeded through the auditorium, coming to a final halt in the middle of the court and spinning the flags in his remembrance.
The flag tribute included all of the international nation flags held by students who were impacted by DeNapoli.
To honor his time spent working to create a more accepting, open and international view in his community, students volunteered to perform an international flag procession.
DeNapoli worked at NSU for 25 years, and made countless connections among students, staff and faculty alike.
DeNapoli was the dean of undergraduate admissions, and prior to that, he was the associate dean of international affairs. He went out of his way to make sure students felt welcomed at NSU.
