Just earlier this month, Newsmax host Grant Stinchfield angrily cut off and scolded a U.S. veteran over a fair and mild criticism of the Trump administration.
“You’re not gonna blame this on President Trump on my show,” yelled Stinchfield, revealing a fact that most people already assumed: no one can blame Trump on any Newsmax show.
Newsmax is the most biased and inaccurate “news” publisher on the air today. In many respects, they are not news.
Thanks to Stinchfield, it is apparent what happens when someone tells the truth on Newsmax. The network has a clear and dogmatic loyalty to the former president. This comes at all costs.
In February, Mike Lindell, CEO of My Pillow and the guy who thinks an excel spreadsheet is evidence of voter fraud, was kicked off the air when he insinuated that Dominion, a voting machine company, helped “steal the election.” Dominion has sued both Newsmax and Lindell, so when Lindell would not talk about what he came to Newsmax to talk about, the anchor had to read out a statement and then get up and leave the interview.
Later, the anchor had to issue a pathetic apology to Lindell and viewers for telling them the truth. To sweeten the deal, Lindell was invited to another show later that day to ramble.
Newsmax’s articles are written through a Trump-tinted lens of delusion. They are made for a version of the U.S. that believes itself to be under attack because trans people have basic human rights and people of color can’t be legally discriminated against anymore. The words “progressive” and “woke” have derogatory connotations in their articles and only the most unflattering pictures of Democrat politicians and community leaders are published.
Newsmax does not adhere to any of the journalistic standards of reputable sources. These values are not present in any of the online articles or broadcasts and it is becoming increasingly apparent that people who work for Newsmax may never have learned any of these to begin with.
Just one example lies in Ben & Jerry’s new ice cream flavor: “Change is Brewing”. “Ben & Jerry’s ‘Change Is Brewing’ funds defund police movement” reads the headline. The new flavor was in support of Rep. Cori Bush’s People’s Response Act, a bill that would give social workers more say in situations where, previously, police would decide the outcome.
Newsmax went on to write: “Vermont ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s, which has embraced a number of progressive agenda causes, is introducing its latest flavor – to help the “Defund the Police” movement.” After that claim, the author went on to quote press releases and Twitter posts, none of which ever mentioned any affiliation with “Defund the Police” or even the name of the movement. The headline and lead completely mislead the reader.
It makes the reader sit and wonder: “How do they get away with this?” Then the grim answer hits, it is because no one takes them seriously. The only people who seem to cite Newsmax are those who also believe that the Qanon conspiracy holds merit or that Trump really is still the president. These are people who do not care to separate delusion from reality anymore.
Newsmax profits from these people, and Newsmax is filled with these people. So, let’s call them what they actually are: Newsmax, actual fake news.
