With the month of October comes frightening entertainment. That means scary movies, haunted houses, weird costumes and probably eating a lot of candy. If you enjoy getting scared, listening to horror podcasts can be your new haunted house attraction at home. Horror podcasts can slip their listener into spine-chilling stories that they can get lost in. There is a wide variety of podcasts to listen to, so I have compiled a list of horror podcasts you could listen to.

Blackwood

Blackwood is an immersive and spooky short audio drama from Skylark Media following three friends Molly Weaver, Brian Anderson and Nathan Howell who are starting a podcast on a local legend monster called the Blackwood Bugman. Starting the investigation as fun project between friends quickly turns into discovering the truth behind the mystery, leading to those involved winding up dead or disappeared without a trace.

The podcast offers an immersive experience including images, drawings and newspapers clippings on their official website.

Unwell: A Midwestern Gothic Mystery

This podcast brings to life a story revolving around conspiracies, an unusual family and ghosts. Unwell is set in the small town of Mt. Absalom, Ohio and follows Lilian Harper moving in to care for her estranged mother. Lilian resides in her mother’s boarding house that has been in her family for generations. The more time Lillian spends time in this town the more she comes across strange town people, paranormal activities, and family hidden secrets.

Lore

Sometimes real life is scarier than fiction, if you enjoy listening to real life scary stories you might be interested in listening to Lore. A bi-weekly and award-winning podcast about real life scary stories and the history behind them, some episodes revolve around mysterious creatures, strange places and tragic events. The podcast might also work for those who are not big horror fan but can appreciate folklore and the dark history behind them. Lore is also available as a TV show and book that combines illustrations and typography.
