Former MLB player missing remains
The remains of Doug Slaten, a former pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, who died in 2012 at the age of 36 are missing. Before Slaten’s passing, his wife, Nikki Frederick, and himself moved to a house in Burlington Kentucky, where they proceeded to bury Slaten’s ashes in the yard. However, in January construction began on a lot next to Frederick’s home, where due to improper shoring and deep digging the property subsided where Slaten’s ashes were buried. Frederick has filed a $1.5 million lawsuit against Brookstone Homes for trespassing, negligence and desecration of a grave. Frederick claims the grave was not marked and contacted Brookstone Homes after the property subsided to preserve what was left of the gravesite.

Irving still has hopes to play this season, however the team stated that he will be unable to practice or play in games until he has the vaccination or New York City drops its vaccine mandate. Nets general manger Sean Marks said that the team refuses to have Irving play under part-time availability and they have no choice but to keep Irving from the team.

This contract places Staley on par with the University of Connecticut Geno Auriemma. This $800 thousand raise for Staley came a few months after the NCAA Tournament where she led the Gamecocks to their third Final Four. Staley said, “This university and this state have a rich history of racism, and I’m not going to disregard that. But this is one of the most progressive decisions they’ve ever made.”
