Looted West African artifacts have now been returned
Several artifacts that had been looted from West Africa have now been returned. A Cambridge College and Scottish University returned two sculptures to Nigeria. This occurred after years of battling European nations. These articles, along with thousands of others, were stolen in 1897 when Britian attacked the Kingdom of Benin which is now located in modern day Nigeria, according to NBC News. Amatey Doku, a former student at the Cambridge College said, “For the Benin Bronzes specifically, this moment will be looked back as the real dismantling of the argument that it couldn’t be done.”
Kim Jung Un media photos raise questions about his health
North Korean Dictator Kim Jung Un, has sparked conversation about his health after visibly being much thinner in media photos and videos. Kim has not yet announced a successor and experts believe that if he died abruptly, the country would erupt into chaos. According to NBC News, the North Korean leader lost 44 pounds but remains healthy according to his representatives. The country has been facing economic problems and Kim Jong Un has been struggling to increase public loyalty, according to a South Korean spy agency.
Woman in Thailand cuts the rope supporting two painters 26 floors high
A woman who lives in a condominium in Thailand cut the rope supporting two painters on the 26th floor. According to NBC News, the woman was apparently angry that she was not notified that there was going to people doing work outside. The two painters were left hanging 26 floors high until they were rescued. NBC News said, “The woman is facing attempted murder and property destruction charges, Pol. Col. Pongjak Preechakarunpong, chief of the Pak Kret police station north of the Thai capital, told The Associated Press.” There is a video clip that has gone viral on social media showing the two painters hanging asking for help.
Doctors advise Queen Elizabeth II to rest
Queen Elizabeth II was advised to rest for two weeks by doctors according to Buckingham Palace. NBC News reported that the Queen will be missing the Festival of Remembrance that honors those who have served in Britian on Nov 13. The Queen was recently hospitalized overnight, unrelated to COVID-19. In the statement released from the palace, it is the Queens “firm intention” to attend a national service of remembrance for military veterans that will take place on Nov 14. There have been no more information on what the specific ailments of the Queen’s health have been released.
