NSU hosts “Haunted Histories” story booth
The Department of Humanities and Politics hosted their seasonal Story Booth event, a story telling series that invites Nova Southeastern University students and the surrounding community to share stories and experiences. Their latest Story Booth event, titled, “Story Booth: Haunted Histories” invited participants to share their culture’s spookiest stories, individual’s own experiences with hauntings or just scary stories they’d like to share with others. The event took place in front of the Alvin Sherman Library on the front lawn on the evening of Oct. 29.
Students gear up for homecoming week
Student organizations are prepping for NSU’s annual homecoming events, as this will be the first traditional homecoming lineup NSU has hosted since the COVID-19 pandemic began. The events, announced in mid-October, starts off on Nov. 8 with the homecoming pep rally from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The following day holds NSU’s annual “Anything That Floats” raft race across Gold Circle Lake. On Nov. 11, the annual homecoming parade takes place, followed by the homecoming bash on Nov. 12. This year’s homecoming bash is titled “Yacht Edition,” although it has not been announced by campus life what exactly this event entails. The homecoming event lineup stretches over the course of two weeks, and aside from the large homecoming events, multiple organizations on campus are hosting events throughout the week. Students can enjoy the Unified Greek Council’s “Stroll Off” event on the evening of Nov. 10, and on Nov. 13 the women’s volleyball team and men’s basketball team will be playing homecoming games.
Guest policy updated by housing department
Housing has lifted all guest policy restrictions, returning to a pre-COVID-19 normal. Students are now allowed to bring non-NSU visitors into the dormitory halls. While COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted, the policies outlined in the student housing guide about both daytime and overnight guests remains intact, so students must still check in guests with the front desk when they enter the dorms. The update took place on Oct. 26, after an email was sent out to all NSU students. In the email, the Office of Residence Life and the Office of University Housing supported their decision by citing a thorough review of COVID-19 cases at NSU as well as all throughout South Florida, adding that Broward County was one of the highest vaccinated counties in Florida.
