Gill Out: Ceviche 105

Being half Peruvian has allowed me to experience my Peruvian culture in many ways. One thing that I’ve had the privilege of experiencing has been the food and the rich tase of flavors that Peruvian cuisine has to offer.

Ceviche 105 is a huge staple of Miami cuisine that showcases Peruvian food in the most unique way. The restaurant is located on Biscayne Blvd in Aventura. When I first went to Ceviche 105 it was like I was transported back to Peru because of the food I consumed. Its rich flavor – and unexpected divine experience – is something me and my family cherish.

For drinks, my mom and dad ordered two pisco sours which consist of pisco being the base liquor and the rest of the drink being sour. They have enjoyed this balanced combination with any ceviche we ordered because it helped rejuvenate their pallet in order to indulge in the experience.

The top ceviches at the restaurant are the fish or mixed seafood combinations. Lime, onion and cilantro are all key ingredients used to make the ceviche’s truly exceptional. It adds unique touches to seafood that continues to allow for diverse creativity.

There are bigger platters that allow for family-style meals which are great to share. Dishes like Trilogía De Ceviches, which is $33.95, is the perfect trio of virgin cream, yellow pepper cream and rocoto cream. All of these individual flavors tie in perfectly for a meal that makes you feel like you’re indulging in rich culture.

I really enjoyed this concept of how the ceviche was prepared. Beforehand I never enjoyed spicy ceviche because of how stubborn I was with specific food. However, as I have gotten older, I have learned to appreciate authentic cuisine.

Also, I have a very strong sweet tooth, so when deciding on dessert the choices were impeccable. Specifically, one dish caught my eye which was a chocolate mousse cake.  Its rich creamy flavor with the consistency of the cake was one of the best desserts I have ever tasted. It became my newfound favorite dessert.

Overall, visiting Ceviche 105 has become one of the highlights of my life because it has brought me closer to exploring my Peruvian heritage. I am eternally grateful for this because without this experience, I would have missed out on this opportunity of eating delicious food.
