The BEDI Council will lead the upcoming Diversity Summit

The BEDI Advisory Council will host the upcoming Diversity Summit on March 15 – 16. This free event aims to promote diversity and inclusion across all NSU, including Denver, Colorado, Ft. Lauderdale/Davie, Ft. Myers, Jacksonville, Miami, Miramar, Orlando, Palm Beach, Puerto Rico and Tampa Bay Regional. The theme for this year is ”Connect, Collaborate and Thrive.”

Elizabeth Swann, professor and director of Interprofessional Integration from the Office of Professional Development and Education, Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences is leading a discussion on Language, Labels and Love.

“We are coming together for an inclusive event,” said Swann. “We have student speakers. A couple of guest speakers from our faculty and community.”

There will be more than 50 presentations, including: five-eight minute Diversity Showcase Sessions, 15-minute Diversity Innovations Sessions, 30-minute Diversity on Demand Sessions, and 60-minute Diversity to the Max Sessions. Our diverse NSU community, including students, faculty, staff and alumni, will be presenting on a myriad of topics.

Also featured will be two keynote speakers, Robert Kesten, executive director of the Stonewall National Museum Archives, and Jason Thompson, vice president for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Western Governors University, who are active leaders in the diversity field.

The Diversity Summit will be held virtually via Zoom (accompanied by live transcriptions), as well as in-person at the Ft. Lauderdale/Davie campus on March 15 in the Carl DeSantis Building and in the Chancellor’s Dining Room on March 16.
