Explore NSU through virtual tours

Now, anyone can take a tour of NSU’s campus without moving an inch.

Virtual tours of three NSU locations ― the Fort Lauderdale/Davie campus, the Oceanographic Campus and the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale ― are now available online, in virtual reality and as an app through Google Play and Apple’s app store.

The 360-degree panoramic tours feature a voice guide who takes viewers to the different areas of each location and provides background information on events and programs. Photos and videos of the locations are also available, and viewers can choose to schedule a visit, apply online and learn more information about NSU.

NSU currently has an interactive map of the locations and a feature on Google Street View. After hearing from President’s 64 that it would be beneficial to have a virtual walking tour, the Office of University Relations and Office of Undergraduate Admissions in the College of Undergraduate Studies created the project.

Kimberly Cohane, online marketing and social media manager at the Office of University Relations, said the tour is beneficial to all students, but specifically prospective students.

“Students who aren’t in the tri-county area will have an opportunity to see what the campus looks like,” she said. “Sometimes, photos just don’t paint as vivid a picture as a 360-degree panoramic image does, or as seeing it in a virtual reality.”

Cohane said that current students may have not visited all of NSU’s locations, and the tour will serve as a way to show them what those areas look like.

Many times, students don’t have the time to visit every location on campus, she said.

“It’s an opportunity for current students who are actually at the Fort Lauderdale/Davie campus to see some of these buildings,” she said.

Cohane said that having a virtual tour is just another tool to help recruit students and show people the various NSU locations.

“It’s a good opportunity to pique someone’s interest if they haven’t decided to take an official tour yet,” she said. “For people who [can come to] campus, they will still want to take a tour with the Admissions Ambassadors.”

The tour launched with 20 tour stops and 30 panoramic images. As part of yearly updates, new locations, including the College of Dental Medicine Simulation Lab, the Center for Collaborative Research and the NSU Arena at the Don Taft University Center will be added, creating new stops and more images.
