If you’re anything like me then you welcome the holiday season with open arms. You get your colorful hand-knit sweater out. You schedule appearances at as many holiday parties as possible, and you look forward to watching the holiday classics. In order to help you fully embrace the most wonderful time of the year, here’s a list of movies to watch every day until Christmas.
Dec. 1- “Love Actually”
Start things off right with one of the best holiday movies of the decade. It’ll remind you to be thankful for the special person you have, or to remain hopeful for the person you’re going to find.
Dec. 2- “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”
No one does the holidays like the Griswold’s. It’s hilarious ‘80’s Christmas fun.
Dec. 3- “Scrooged”
A classic story with a fabulous Bill Murray spin.
Dec. 4- “Home Alone”
Before Justin Bieber, there was Macaulay Culkin. Before iPod, there was Talkboy. Relive your childhood with this movie.
Dec. 5- “Jingle All the Way”
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sinbad, and Phil Hartman — Christmas comes early this year.
Dec. 6- “Die Hard”
“Yipikayay Santa Claus.” Bruce Willis is here to see who’s on the naughty list, and he’s not happy about fighting bad guys on Christmas.
Dec. 7- “Elf”
This is a hilariously original story featuring Frank the Tank, I mean, Will Ferrell. Watch this movie, and then answer all your phone calls by saying, “Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color?”
Dec. 8- “The Holiday”
Cozy up next to someone, or cozy up with some chocolate, and watch this charming story, which features some huge stars.
Dec. 9- “A Muppet Christmas Carol”
Nothing brings joy to the heart like the Muppets, a Christmas Carol, and Michael Caine as Scrooge. This is quite possibly my favorite holiday movie of all time.
Dec. 10- “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas”
In this one, Jim Carrey shines as the Grinch and the song “Where are you Christmas?” which is featured in the movie, would give even Chuck Norris a lump in his throat.
Dec. 11- “Eight Crazy Nights”
This movie reminds us that Christmas is not the only holiday. Adam Sandler gets a bit raunchy, but delivers a fun, family movie that celebrates Hanukkah.
Dec. 12- “Bad Santa”
It doesn’t get any more vulgar than “Bad Santa,” but a little bit of naughty is nice.
Dec. 13- “The Santa Clause”
Tim Allen found box office success when he threw on old St. Nick’s garb in “The Santa Clause.” It’s a perfect movie for the entire family.
Dec. 14- “A Charlie Brown Christmas”
As American as cherry pie and Toby Keith’s boots, this traditional classic is a Christmas must.
Dec. 15- “The Nightmare Before Christmas”
This Tim Burton masterpiece is a beloved quirky, unique, and darker take on the season.
Dec. 16-“Gremlins”
Ever get an awesome gift for Christmas? I doubt it was as good as when Billy Peltzer got a Gremlin for Christmas.
Dec. 17- “Christmas with the Kranks”
Tim Allen strikes again, but this time with less reindeer and more fake tans.
Dec. 18- “Just Friends”
This may not be a classic holiday movie, but it’s pretty funny. I’m sure the ladies won’t mind Ryan Reynolds being in it either.
Dec. 19- “Fred Claus”
No better time to get a Vince Vaughn fix.
Dec. 20- “The Polar Express”
Robert Zemeckis directed this recent film, which has quickly become a holiday favorite.
Dec. 21- “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles”
Before the Will Ferrells, the Judd Apatows, and the Jim Carreys of the world, guys like Steve Martin and John Candy ruled comedy. In this film, they’re an odd pair trying to make it home for the holidays.
Dec. 22- “About a Boy”
Christmas is not just American. The Brits celebrate it too. “About a Boy” is both hilarious and heartwarming, besides, what’s Christmas without Hugh Grant?
Dec. 23- “A Christmas Story”
It’s going to be on for 24 hours. You’re going to watch it, and you’re going to love every minute of it.
Dec. 24- “It’s a Wonderful Life”
This is the best holiday movie. It will remind you of all you have to be thankful for this holiday season and that it’s not all about presents and food but being surrounded by people you love.
