Spring Break guide

Ah, Spring Break, a time for rest and relaxation. Everyone needs a bit of tranquility after half a semester of intense education. This year, however, it isn’t going to be easy for you to retain all those notes because 2012 promises one of the most spectacular opportunities for fun — so much fun that it will likely be a daunting task to figure out where the parties are. Fear not. Here is a list of some of the most exciting spring break destinations. Save your thanks for later.

International jet-setter status

Bahamas: While Nassau, Bahamas might not seem far enough away to really consider it international, it is still the primary destination of those who want to be seen. Celebrities are flocking to the Bahamas in droves and there is no reason why you can’t too. Expect to have a star-studded experience no matter where you go — the beach, the casinos or to the clubs. However, if you want a quieter break, you can have that too. Rejuvenation is the theme in Nassau.

Jamaica: Cancun is so 2000 and late. Everyone is going to Jamaica these days and who can blame them. With activities ranging from scuba driving to rock climbing, life on and off the beach is certain to be a blast. My sources say that Negril is the place to be. With a plethora of dance halls, clubs, bars and restaurants, the party never stops in Jamaica.

Go the distance

Panama City: The quintessential Spring Break destination for years deserves to be witnessed at least once. The Florida Panhandle may not be the first thought when considering Spring Break. Trust me, Panama City has plenty of sand and nightlife to satisfy any skeptic.

Clearwater-St. Petersburg: This is my native stomping ground. Nothing says Spring Break like Clearwater Beach — amazing sand sun and almost unnoticeable surf. Clearwater may not have the waves like the east coast but it makes up for it with some of the best water and nightlife on the west coast.

Not too far, not too close

The Keys: Don’t want to spend the dough for some international Caribbean action? Well gas up the station wagon and hit I-95. With epic beaches like Bahia Honda and an equally amazing night life, Key West is sure to satisfy anyone’s appetite for an unforgettable break.

Local

South Beach: Had a long semester? Rather sleep in your bed than on the beach? Well no need to overexert yourself because South Beach is only a skip and a hop away. Most major activities on South Beach will be taking place after our break is over, but that’s just another excuse to party longer.
