Site of the week: HackCollege.com

It would be nice to have all the answers to college. Life would have been a lot easier if freshman year of college someone had told us how to eat healthy at the food court, the best way to take notes in class or how to stay focused when studying. However, it seems the process of discovering these answers is part of the college experience…or just go to www.hackcollege.com and find out before graduation.

The site gives tips daily that range from the most effective ways to speak in public to “preventing hunger pains with on-the-go snacks.”

The good thing about the tips is that they go into detail about each solution. For example, in the post “Curing dorm-induced insomnia,” the writer not only describes to the readers to make their beds comfortable, block out sounds or seek help, but describes how to do each.

It gets better. Since the writers are college students, they understand their audience is on a budget, so their solutions include affordable or free resources.

The site has more than 1,000 posts, but the most popular include “10 ways to find a lost Word document,” “3 drinking games you need to know” and “How to construct a loft bed.”

Another feature on the site is a recently re-added weekly podcast conducted by college students from universities throughout the country. The podcasts address news that might interest students and, at the end of the show, each conductor gives tips on a specific subject.
