Softball prepared for important series with Florida Southern
Through the first 45 games of the season, the team stood with a record of (26-19) and fifth in the conference. With an important series coming up against Florida Southern from April 20-21, the team felt this would be the opportunity to move up in the conference, and try to improve their case for a spot in the regional tournament.
Wrestling: Sport or soap opera?
So, there’s this episode of South Park (stay with me now) where the main characters try their hands at wrestling. The brand of wrestling the boys take on is one of drama, story lines, and little-to-none actual wrestling. It involved all sorts of convoluted plots and cheesy stories about girlfriend-stealing, revenge and the like. There was even this gentleman (his name escapes me) who was frustrated with this format. He harked back to the days of “wrastling”, the type of wrestling you see in high schools and colleges – jock straps and all.
Golf finishes up play at conference tournament
Both golf teams will conclude play at the Sunshine State Conference Championship today. The women have won it the previous two years, while the men won it last year. They are both ranked second in the nation, and are hoping to walk away as conference champions.
NSU soccer alum signs with the Strikers
On March 23, NSU alumnus Aly Hassan signed a contract with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers soccer team for the 2012 season. The club is a member of the North American Soccer League (NASL) and lost in the finals last season to the Minnesota Stars FC.
SAAC raises money for Make-A-Wish Foundation
On March 29, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted a silent auction in the Flight Deck. All the proceeds from this event went to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which has had an alliance with the NCAA Division II since 2003.
