NSU’s Guy Harvey Research Institute tagged shark breaks records

A shark tagged in 2014 by researchers of NSU’s Guy Harvey Research Institute (GHRI) has broken the institute’s record for the longest distance traveled by a GHRI-tagged shark. As of Aug. 28, the tiger shark nicknamed “Andy” had journeyed 33,820 miles in the three years since being tagged and is expected to continue setting records.

Shepard Broad College of Law garners national award

NSU’s Shepard Broad College of Law has earned the 2017 Judy M. Weightman Memorial Public Interest Award at the American Bar Association’s Law Student Division. The college was nominated following the expansion of its International Law Students Association’s bilingual component which includes the Interpretation and Translation Assistance Program . Recipients of this top national award are recognized for their public service and significant contributions made to underrepresented associations in and outside of their respective law schools.

Students of the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship earn grant

On Aug. 23, four graduate students in the Master’s of Science in Real Estate Development program were awarded scholarship funds and the 2017 SIOR Florida Challenge Grant for their case study analysis and proposals for Hendry County and Airglades International Airport. Upon building completion, the Airglades International Airport will be the first FAA-sanctioned, private commercial airport located in the continental US.

NSU professor receives Founder’s Tree of Life Award

Judith Mckay, associate professor of Conflict Resolution and Community Studies received the Founder’s Tree of Life Award on Sep. 9 at an event hosted by Leaders Recognizing Leaders. The organization recognizes her as a leader who has contributed to the growth and development of youth into global citizens.
