Parker Building closed until further notice due to sewage link

The Louis W. Parker Physical Sciences Center, better known as the Parker Building, was evacuated at approximately 2:45 p.m. today after a backed up water line caused a sewage leak on the east side of the building.

Seth Mangasarian, Director of the Physical Plant, said that the cause of the leak is not yet known, but that water flow has been cut from the building so that further evaluation can take place. Mangasarian said that a camera will be sent through the pipe to identify the cause of the block and this is expected to happen today.

Jim Ewing, Director of Public Safety, said that students will be alerted through the NSU-Alert System when the Parker Building re-opens and is safe for students to return.

Until then, students with classes in the Parker Building should contact their professor for information about their classes.
