Softball

On March 21, the softball team split a doubleheader with host Flagler College Saints on its final non-conference action of the 2018 season. In the first match, the Sharks won with a score of 3-2. However, they lost with a 3-16 score on their second match of the day. Sophomore Sydney Lageyre helped the Sharks take the lead in their first match and Sophomore Lexie Storrer hit an RBI-single which secured the win for the sharks. On the second match, even though redshirt freshman Daniel Bautista recorded her second homer of the season, it wasn’t enough for the Sharks to catch up to Flagler who took an early lead.

Track & Field

The men’s and women’s track and field teams concluded their competition in the Miami Hurricane Invitational gathering multiple top-eight finishes and career-bests by graduate student Daniel Polinski with a season-best and school record in the shotput throwing 15.46m. Freshman Justin Jackson had one of those top-eight finishes in the triple jump while senior Jazmine Elleston hit a personal-best in the women’s triple jump.

Men’s Baseball

On March 16, the Sharks suffered a loss against Florida Tech with a score of 5-7.  Freshman Jeffrey Cyr recorded two RBIs, while three others tallied two hits apiece. However, the sharks weren’t able to overcome four errors.

On March 17, the Sharks took home two wins in their doubleheader against Florida Tech. In the first game they won with a score of 14-6 and sweep the day with a score of 11-4 in their second match. Sophomore Nik Sanders dominated the bullpen in the first game, tossing 6.1 scoreless innings for the victory. Redshirt senior Andrew Liberty hit two home runs in the first game.

March 18, the sharks had a non-conference doubleheader against NYIT. The sharks took home one of two games victories with and score of 7-4. Senior Dylan Harris paced the sharks with three hits in game one. On game two, NYIT took the lead from the beginning and the sharks, who score two batters by junior Dominic Diana, were not able to take that lead again and ended the game with a score of 2-1

Women’s Tennis

On March 17, the women’s tennis took home a victory with a score of 5-4. Sophomore Daniela Obando secured the win for the sharks with her first-ever match-clinching point. Junior Ana Navas and Sophomore Isabella Lowrey gave the sharks a 2-1 lead in the doubles. Obando and junior Andrea Ivanovic defeated Florida Southeaster’s double team with a score of 8-4

Swimming

The men’s and women’s swimming team closed out competition in the 2018 NCAA Div. II National Championships on March 17. The women’s team scored a total of 288 points and the Sharks take home the bronze, their highest finish in program history. Freshman Emma Sunstedt earned sixth place in the 1650 freestyle while senior Franco Lupoli grabbed the silver on the men’s side.
