On March 29, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted a silent auction in the Flight Deck. All the proceeds from this event went to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which has had an alliance with the NCAA Division II since 2003.
Jonathon Martinez, junior English major and one of the event’s organizers, said One Day Without Shoes is sponsored by TOMS Shoes, a non-profit organization with an initiative that donates a pair of shoes to needy children overseas when customers purchase their brand.
On March 17, at 8 a.m., NSU will host the annual Broward County Heart Walk, which benefits the American Heart Association, the nation’s oldest and largest health organization dedicated to the eradication of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Event coordinators expect 8,000 participants.
Families packed the restaurant with more queuing in line to get in. A trio of girls giggled gleefully while having their faces painted. At the next table, children danced colorful balloon animals through the air. Amidst the palpable joy, heaping piles of pancakes, sizzling mozzarella sticks and bubbling apple crisps were delivered to tables.
