Saamia Shaikh is a senior biology major. She is originally from Pakistan, but grew up in Orlando. She is the president of the Pre-Medical Society, as well as the co-president of the Pakistani Student Association. She is also a member of President’s 64 and on the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences’s Academic Integrity Committee. When Saamia is not studying, she is reading, doing research, volunteering in her community and spending time with friends and family.

NSU’s International Medical Outreach Club expands its borders
The Students International Medical Outreach Club, part of NSU’s College of Medicine, has extended its services of providing medical and humanitarian aid to more developing countries. The IMOC now provides aid to Argentina, Bangladesh and Jamaica, adding to Peru and Ecuador.
NSU hosts controversial medical marijuana debate
On Oct. 5, a panel of medical experts discussed the risks and benefits of using marijuana in medicine at an event sponsored by the local chapters of the American Medical Student Association, the Student National Medical Association and the Student Public Health Association in the Steele auditorium in the Terry Building.
