New Aviation Program at NSU Takes Flight

To help satisfy the increase in demand for qualified pilots by the Federal Aviation Administration, NSU will start offering a Bachelor of Science Degree in human services administration with concentration in human factors, which focuses on the psychological behaviors of pilots, starting this fall.

New Routes for Shark Shuttle

The shark shuttle will have new routes by Sept. 1. Instead of 18 routes there will be 8. This new implementation is an effort by the management of the shuttle service to improve the current route system, which many riders complain is not efficient.

The Food Bar: The New King of Shark Dining

The Food Bar offers several dining options which are desperately needed at the food court. The Culinary Table offered students a prefixed menu of limited variety. If you did not like what they served that day you were simply out of luck and forced to dine elsewhere. With the Food Bar, you get the opportunity to choose from a wide and rich menu. Anyone who dines at the Food Bar will immediately notice the variety of food they offer, first glances will remind customers of the Chicken Grill or Greens etc. but the similarities end there.

Become a Certified Scuba Diver at NSU

Scuba diving can now be checked off the list of exciting programs at NSU, thanks to the new academic diving program. This program offers scuba diving training for academic credit as well as for recreation purpose.
The Introduction to Scuba Diving (MBIO 4900), was added to the course catalog this summer. The course is a three-credit hour elective from Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences. Students become certified divers at the end of the course. There is a $200 lab fee, which covers boat fees, lake dives, books and other materials needed for the class.

PanSGA passes resolutions that affect student clubs

On Feb. 15, the Pan Student Government Association unanimously passed resolutions, presented by the undergraduate SGA and the student bar association presidents, to create a procurement card system for student organizations and a student services fee audit and advisory board.

NSU establishes new engineering majors

Next fall, the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will offer new majors in computer engineering, software engineering and information technology. The new majors will be housed in the college’s Division of Math, Science and Technology.
