Race and Carnival to be held at NSU to benefit the Special Olympics
As one of NSU’s homecoming week events, the “Sallarulo’s Race for Champions 5K” and the first annual “Carnival of Champions” will be held outside the Alvin Sherman Library on its quad, Nov. 10 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Special Olympics Broward County seeks NSU student volunteers
During the spring, Special Olympics Broward County will be reaching out to NSU student organizations about volunteering for Sallarulo’s Race for Champions. The race was founded by Paul, Samantha and Patrick Sallarulo as a fundraiser for Special Olympics in 2006, and has become an annual event.
NSU athletics volunteers at Special Olympics basketball tournament
On Jan. 14, nearly 500 athletes from Special Olympics participated in the County Basketball Tournament held at the Don Taft University Center. Seven teams from Broward County qualified for the state competition but all the athletes were proud of their accomplishments.
