NSU will host a free speaker and book-signing event with Rip Esselstyn — former professional athlete, firefighter and author of the New York Times best-selling book “The Engine 2 Diet” — in the Don Taft University Center’s Performing and Visual Arts Theater on Feb. 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by Whole Foods Market in Plantation and is open to the public.

Awarded journalist, Iranian tortured prison survivor, speaks at NSU
Award-winning journalist and filmmaker Maziar Bahari shared his experiences with more than 250 NSU students, faculty, family, and community members at the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center on Oct. 18 as a part of the Distinguished Speaker Series.
Iran prison survivor to visit NSU
On June 21, Maziar Bahari was arrested by Iranian intelligence officers on six charges, primarily suspicion of being a spy for the CIA, Israel’s Mossad, Britain’s MI6, and Newsweek. He was interrogated, tortured and put in solitary confinement, within a 6-by-12-foot prison cell, for 118 days, 12 hours and 54 minutes.
