Yours truly has handpicked the five greatest moments (in no particular order) by NSU athletics from the fall season. Whether you missed these epic moments or just enjoy being in a state of nostalgia, you won’t want to turn this page. Enjoy reading.
1. NSU volleyball defeated a tough conference opponent in Rollins on Nov. 12 to end the season on a positive note. What made this moment more special was the fact that it was senior night, and the three seniors ended their NSU careers with a victory.
2. Women’s golf won their fourth straight NSU Shark Invitational on Oct. 11. This was the team’s only victory of the fall season, but it was an indicator that they definitely have the talent to compete for yet another national championship. Will they do it again? We’ll be watching.
3. Who needs a football team when you have a women’s soccer team that’s capable of scoring nine times in a game? This is exactly what happened when they defeated Johnson & Wales, 9-0, on Sept. 14. Scoring nine goals in a soccer match is certainly an impressive accomplishment.
4. Men’s golf finished the fall season with a bang when they won the team title at the Marjorie Whitney Invitational on Nov. 1. Not winning a tournament in the previous fall season made this victory especially sweet. Ending the fall with a win should give the team momentum heading into spring.
5. Men’s basketball defeated Barry, 65-64, on Dec. 1 after Senior point guard, Tim Traversa, hit the game-winning shot. It was the team’s first conference game of the season, and defeating Barry is always satisfying.
