NSU Student Breaks Guinness World Record

Stephen Rafferty, freshman communications major, has broken the official Guinness World Record for “most straws in the hair at one time.”
He was assisted by The Current’s Visual Design Assistant Maria Yunez, junior communication studies major, and The Current’s Sports Editor Grant McQueenie, junior sports and recreation management major.

After nearly an hour of Yunez and McQueenie placing straws in his massive afro, the final tally came up to an impressive 312 straws, beating the previous record of 200.

Congratulations, Stephen! His story, including why he sought to break such a quirky record, along with video of his record-shattering feat, is on The Current’s website, nsucurrent.nova.edu.
