Sororities to host ‘Game Show Night: Phirst Love!’

On Monday, Feb. 12, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and Phi Sigma Sigma will host “Game Show Night: Phirst Love!” from 8-10 p.m. in the UC Pit. Proceeds from the show will go to breast cancer awareness.

Each of the five couples that are competing in Phirst Love are representing one or more greek organizations, either from the Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council or the Unified Greek Council. Over the course of the evening, the participants, who may be best friends or couples, will go through a variety of tests to decide which duo reigns supreme.

“There’s two rounds of questions for the participants, they’re kind of being quizzed on each other,” explained Sydney Daniels, president of Phi Sigma Sigma. “Then, a little minute to win it activity, and then two rounds of questions and another activity.”

Couples can also get points by receiving the most likes on Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.’s Instagram photo of them or by getting donations.

There is also an incentive for couples to try their best.

“Basically we have couples answer questions about each other, seeing how much they know about each other,” said Nathanya Vidal, secretary of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. “Basically whichever couple wins gets a date night package with chocolates or dinner.”

However, there’s more to the evening than just fun and games for couples. The overall purpose of the night is to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

Daniels said, “We’ll have bucket girls going around during the rounds if you want to donate to a specific couple, and then we have an Ignite CX link in our Instagram and Zeta Phi Beta’s Instagram page.”

The bucket girls will be collecting cash donations, while the link, found in Phi Sigma Sigma’s, @nsu_phisig, or Zeta Phi Beta’s, @betatau_zetas, Instagram bios, accepts card.

Everyone is encouraged to come to the show, even if they don’t know any of the couples or they aren’t a part of a greek organization.

“It’ll be fun to see how these couples or best friends really know each other, the minute to win it activities will be a lot of fun to watch,” said Daniels. “It’s also a philanthropy event, so it’ll really help the cause.”
