Students walked a mile for domestic abuse awareness

On Tuesday, April 9, in honor of Sexual Assault awareness month, NSU students and other members of the NSU community participated in the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event to support the victims of sexual assault and domestic abuse.

This event is part of an international men’s march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence. Students and community members of NSU alike joined together to walk side by side in support to put an end to sexual assault in men and women. Male and female students had the opportunity to participate by choosing to wear a pair of heels or weighted backpacks and boots to support both men and women in this issue.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes at NSU was sponsored by NSU’s Title XI office and organized in collaboration with NSU’s student mediation services, NSU’s veterans resource center, office of student media, Davie police department and Women In Distress of Broward County among others.
