Let’s be kind

Sometimes, the small things in life go a long way. There are many ways to spread kindness, and it can be big or small. We never know what people are going through. Therefore, acts of kindness can go a long way for someone. Kindness Day is on Nov. 13, which means it is time to create some smiles. It does not take much to make someone smile and doing so can make a huge difference in their day. Thinking of ways to spread kindness? Keep reading for some random acts of kindness you can share with the world.

Give a compliment

If you are looking to do something small and simple, it can be as easy as going up to someone you do not know and giving them a compliment. There are many trending online videos where people will go through a drive-through and pay for the person behind them, which is another way to demonstrate kindness.

Volunteer or donate

If you are looking for a more inexpensive way to share kindness, sign up to volunteer at a food pantry or donate some canned goods. You can also donate clothes you do not wear to the Salvation Army or Goodwill.

Make some food

If you like to cook, making someone a meal or dessert might be just what they need. It can be something as small as pasta with sauce or cupcakes. That is just food for thought, but any meal is a great gesture.

Create a care package

A care package filled with candies and face masks can create a happy and relaxing time for someone. There are plenty of different things that can be included in a care basket that are inexpensive. You can include lotions, candles, a blanket or even some games.

Spend time together

Spend time with friends and family, whether it is just watching a movie or going out on an adventure.

English Pollard, the president of NSU’s Campus Cursive, gave some good insight on acts of kindness.

“Spreading kindness is one of the simplest things, yet one of the most impactful things, someone can do in their daily life. Three ways to do so are by checking on a friend or family member, complimenting a stranger or by giving people (friends, classmates, colleagues, internet friends, strangers) a motivational quote for the day. We post quite a few on our Instagram, @nsucampuscursive.”

Getting involved with Campus Cursive is another simple way to show acts of kindness year-round. They are an active organization that desires to, according to Pollard, “make love famous.”

“Students can get involved by simply coming to our general meetings held bi-weekly on Tuesdays from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm in DeSantis 1048 or on Zoom,” said Pollard.

It does not take much to demonstrate acts of kindness, whether it is towards someone you know or a stranger. Doing something nice for someone else not only makes other people feel good, but it will make you feel good, too. What we put into life is what we get out of it. Be sure to participate in exhibiting random acts of kindness not just on Kindness Day, but every day.
