Washington murder suspect arrested
Gerald Brevard was arrested on March 15 on murder and assault suspicion. Brevard is suspected of killing homeless people in Washington and New York City. Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City, told The Associated Press, “This man targeted those experiencing homelessness with no regard for life, but this criminal is now off the streets. Gun violence against anyone, let alone our most vulnerable populations, is sick, but thanks to the coordination between different levels of law enforcement and the public’s help, those experiencing homelessness can breathe a sigh of relief today.” Brevard has a history of assault, including assault with a deadly weapon. Brevard has been questioned about murders in both areas, but no charges have been officially made against him.
Trump accused of breaking campaign finance laws
While former President Donald Trump has spent the last few months teasing a 2024 White House bid and has been fundraising for a potential future campaign, Trump’s Save America PAC has not yet filed officially for candidacy. American Bridge, a Democratic super PAC, filed a complaint in early March against the Save America PAC for exceeding the fundraising and spending limits set for nonofficial campaigns. This is not the first time this year that Trump has violated the Federal Election Campaign Act. In February, Trump was accused of “soft money” violations, but was not held accountable.
Moderna looks for 4 dose FDA authorization
Moderna has asked for FDA approval on a second dose booster shot in response to data collected during Omicron outbreaks. According to The Associated Press, “U.S. officials have been laying the groundwork to deliver additional booster doses to shore up the vaccines’ protection against serious disease and death from COVID-19. The White House has been sounding the alarm that it needs Congress to ‘urgently”’ approve more funding for the federal government to secure more doses of the COVID-19 vaccines, either for additional booster shots or variant-specific immunizations.” Moderna’s request follows Pfizer and BioNTech seeking authorization on additional boosters for seniors based on data from Israel.

On March 10, Smollett was found guilty of falsifying a hate crime. According to The Associated Press, “Smollett, who is Black and gay, has maintained his innocence.
