Halmos College of Arts and Sciences collects towels for turtles  

NSU Halmos College of Arts and Sciences SGA Executive Board organized a beach towel collection in March. The towel collection was “for the turtles up at Gumbo Limbo, where the team treats, provides surgery and rehabs the turtles with the ultimate hope of releasing them back to the ocean. Many of the turtles are there due to illness, boat strikes, entanglement, predator attacks, getting caught in power plants and other heart-breaking accidents,” according to Halmos College of Arts and Sciences Student Government Association. 

NSU host open classroom: Financial literacy and credit 

NSU is hosting an open classroom series called “Financial Literacy and Credit: Pitfalls From the Misuse of Big Data” on April 14 at 5 p.m. The event will discuss how the misuse of big data has had a negative effect on the credit lending process. The event features host Andrea Nevins and guest speaker Jason Gershman. The speakers will discuss statics that show the correlation between big data and FICO scores as well as some of the abuses of this data and its flaws. According to the university, “The Open Classroom is a collaboration between the Farquhar Honors College and the Alvin Sherman Library to bring disciplinary perspectives on contemporary issues through open conversations with experts in the field. 

NSU hosts DevCon Conference 

Nova Southeastern University with be hosting the seventeenth annual SoFlo DevCon in the Carl Desantis building on April 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event is an annual Tech Hub’s Software Developer’s Conference. According to the event description, “with over 1600 registered attendees and 70+ speakers, this event continues to grow each year into a staple conference for software developers, designers, engineers and tech professionals across the region. “Ticket to the Moon” performance 

Nova Southeastern University’s Rose & Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center will be hosting a performance entitled “Ticket to the Moon” on April 9 at 8 p.m. The performance has been described as a “one of a kind international multimedia ELO experience that features eight musicians and up to a 20 person orchestra. Musicians from around the globe have landed here in Florida to participate in this highly acclaimed production show” by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
