NSU SHEPARD BROAD COLLEGE OF LAW RANKED NATIONALLY FOR LEGAL RESEARCH AND WRITING
According to the NSU Newsroom, “Shepard Broad College of Law’s Legal Research and Writing Program has been ranked 18th nationally by U.S. News & World Report specialty rankings.” In addition, the college also ranked 50th nationally for its Trial Advocacy Program as well as 54th nationally for its Health Law Program. With these rankings, the NSU Law Part-Time Law program is now ranked in the top 50 Law Schools.
THE RETURN OF DRIVE-IN THEATERS
Drive-in theaters have been reemerging all over the country as the latest way to enjoy a movie amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. In Warwick, NY, the Warwick Drive-In Theater reopened Friday, May 15, showcasing double features on three screens. Here in Florida, the city of North Miami has issued a permit allowing Dezerland Park to host drive-in movie nights every Friday until July 3 in their drive-in theater. According to the Miami Herald, “Cars will be spaced apart in the parking lot with a maximum of 150 per showing. The sound from the movies.., will be pumped in through car radios [and] food orders will be taken by a phone app and delivered to people’s cars.”
TROPICAL STORM WARNING
On May 17, the National Hurricane Center issued a tropical storm warning for North Carolina’s Outer Banks. According to CNN Meteorologist Robert Shackelford, Tropical Storm Arthur, the first named storm for 2020, is “churning off the coast of Georgia and South Carolina with sustained winds of 45 mph.” The storm is also said to bring heavy rains and strong winds to North Carolina’s coast.
COMIC ACTOR FRED WILLARD DIES AT 86
Known for his roles on “Modern Family” and “Everybody Loves Raymond,” actor Fred Willard died at the age of 86 on May 16. Willard, who had made his television network debut on “The Ed Sullivan Show” in 1964, died of natural causes in his home in Los Angeles, CA. His death was confirmed by his agent, Mike Eisenstadt.
