Have you ever wanted to travel to Italy? Well, the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale Florida has brought a piece of Italy to you. The exhibit “Offerings of the Angels” brings the history of Italy to the museum with artwork that highlights the Renaissance and Baroque periods. It is is on view until April 8 and at a special rate of $15 with a valid Shark ID.
The “Offerings of the Angels: Old Master Paintings and Tapestries from the Uffizi Gallery” features EuChrist themed works that depict artist renderings of the beginnings of man up to the resurrection of Christ, as told by the Biblical Testaments such as: the Creation of Adam, the Expulsion from the Garden of Eden, the Miracle of Manna, events from the life of Christ and the Resurrection. The theme of forgiveness ties the theme together.
Anotnio Natali, Uffizi Gallery director, said, “Every visitor will be able to trace the Christian path of redemption, from its Old Testament origins into the New Testament fulfillment and the annunciation, when, in the movement of angels salutation to Mary, God was made flesh for the salvation of humanity.”
The Uffizi Gallery is one of the oldest and most famous art museums in the world.
Scott Duckworth, MBA candidate and employee at the museum, said, “It’s a really religious exhibit. Most of the paint is 500 years old and homemade, so I am really impressed with their longstanding glow. I also highly recommend our other exhibits.”
Following the exhibit’s premiere in Fort Lauderdale, it will travel to Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Georgia.
I’ve been to both Italy and to the Uffizi Gallery, so I am familiar with the powerful Medici family. The family provided patronage for artists of the time and each familial successor built on the tradition. Thus, I am thankful for strong families and their lasting impacts, including the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art and Nova Southeastern University for preserving and featuring these works of art from Florence, Italy
I hope all my readers take the time to enjoy this incredible journey through time.
