NSU Tampa CSO on mission for autism
NSU’s Tampa Counseling Student Organization is coordinating a fundraiser at the Tampa Student Educational Center. With a goal to raise $1,000, CSO will be participating in the 2013 Autism Speaks: Tampa Bay walk on Apr. 20 at Raymond James Stadium. Office of Career Development internship and job fair
The Office of Career Development will host an internship and job fair in the second floor basketball courts of the Don Taft University Center, Feb. 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Over 40 employers will attend this fair from various companies such as Aflac, Norwegian Cruise Line and Kraft Foods. Business professional attire is required, along with an NSU ID.
Rachel Wentz speaks about ancient Florida
On Feb. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., Rachel Wentz, regional director of Florida Public Archaeology Network, will have a presentation on “Exploring Ancient Florida” in the Adolfo and Marisela Cotilla Gallery, second floor of the Alvin Sherman Library. Dental students raise money for Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital
NSU dental students Geoffrey Morris and Ian Lieberman have raised over $6,000 for special-needs children at the craniofacial unit in Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Fla. The students produced and sold DVDs, which educated viewers about the brain, spinal cord and other parts of the nervous system. The money will go toward dental implants for patients.
Blanar delivers lecture on parasite
On Feb. 14 from noon to 1 p.m., Christopher Blanar — assistant professor in The Division of Math, Science, and Technology in the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences — will present a lecture in the Alvin Sherman Library, second floor gallery. His presentation will explain the positive effects that parasites have on biological systems.
