You may have noticed it last year — 2011 was a bad year for movies. Sure, there were some “OK” titles and a few long awaited movies like “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” and “Drive,” but that doesn’t compare to the list of films being released this year. Not every big movie of the year is mentioned, but each one is sure to be an unforgettable, unique experience that will, hopefully, make up for last year’s dismal release performances.

For better and for worse—the meaning behind “The Vow”
What would you do if your spouse didn’t remember you? How far would you go to fight for your love? When would you realize you needed to let them go? “The Vow” answers these questions.
“Chronicle” will leave you speechless
How much “epicness” can be stuffed into 84 minutes? Director Josh Trank masters the art of suspense in “Chronicle,” a sci-fi thriller that takes the audience into the chaotic life of Andrew (Dane DeHaan), a neglected social outcast who forms an unlikely bromance-alliance with the most popular kid in school and his pseudo-philosophical cousin. Together, the trio uncovers a secret that inevitably leads them on the greatest yet saddest adventure of their lives.
Liam Neeson vs. Nature. Nature doesn’t stand a chance in “The Grey”
No action movie has ever made me tear up or given me the shivers like this before. Safe to say, I wasn’t prepared to feel just as hopeless as one of the plane crash survivors but I did, and that’s exactly what director Joe Carnahan wants.
Red Tails flutters at best
If you like a good story line and don’t mind spotty acting performances, crappy southern accents, and subpar special effects, then you might just enjoy the movie “Red Tails.”
Can you handle a night with the Devil?
“The Devil Inside,” while eerily reminiscent of the documentary-style Paranormal Activity series, makes for one epic scary movie that doesn’t fall into the typical, god-awful horror genre we’ve all grown bored of, and are a bit insulted by (Shark Night 3D (2011), anyone?).
“The Muppets:” Still a great laugh
In “The Muppets,” three hopefuls from Kansas come to Los Angeles with a plan. Gary (Jason Segal) and his long term girlfriend, Mary (Amy Adams) are planning their 10 year anniversary dinner and have chosen downtown L.A. as a backdrop. The couple decides that they should bring Gary’s brother Walter, (voiced by Peter Linz) who is a Muppet and is a fan of The Muppet Show which has a studio in Hollywood.
Harold and Kumar reunite in time for a fun-filled Christmas
The biggest drawback was the 3D. A good amount of the jokes (and the five-minute clay-mated portion of the movie) depended on flying objects zooming out at you, but it’s not completely necessary. I decided against it at the last minute, and got the jokes just fine.
You won’t have the time of your life watching “In Time”
The movie was watchable — once you get past the N’SYNC jokes and clichéd time references. I was totally captivated by Seyfried’s ability to run throughout the entire movie in “stripper heels.”
Paranormal Activity 3: The paranoia will follow you home
The best part of this movie is the unexpected twist towards the end. I was literally screaming and doing that “peek-through-the-fingers-until-it’s-safe” bit for practically the whole last half of the film (along with the rest of the movie-goers). I won’t divulge the details. You’ll have to watch and see. Muahahaha.
