The Undergraduate Student Government Association (USGA) hosted a “Student Appreciation Day” event to provide students with free food from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. The goal was to bring alternative food options on campus to meet student needs.
USGA began the day by offering students coffee and donuts from Dunkin Donuts.
Students patiently waited in line to receive their free food.
Other than Dunkin Donuts, USGA also provided students with mini croissants which had different kinds of fillings.
At lunchtime, students were served food catered from Bento Cafe. According to USGA, Bento Cafe representatives agreed to cater the event, along with other restaurants located near campus.
Freshman Maha Barakat, enjoyed her free Bento Cafe meal with a smile.
During the hottest time of the day, students showed support for the cause by completing surveys and speaking with USGA members.
USGA used the #Sharksbiteback hashtag to promote the event. Alex Lopez, president of USGA, stated that he was happy with the turnout.
Many restaurants like Chipotle Mexican Grill and Bento Cafe also provided students with coupons and other promotional items.
In order to supply the whole student body with food, USGA had to accommodate students who had special dietary restrictions. As such, students were provided the option of veggie wraps packaged with chips from Toss Up Salads.
USGA displayed a “Here Are Our Concerns” poster where students where asked to jot down their concerns.
Later in the day, students waited to receive food catered by Hungry Howie’s Pizza.
USGA also provided students with fresh fruit.
Some students lingered around the tabling area to eat the food provided by USGA.
