Gill out: Quarterdeck Restaurants

Searching for restaurants, Quarterdeck caught my eye as their menu looked very appetizing.

When I arrived, the customer service was overall good. The waitress wasted no time asking us for our orders and did not mind that my friend had to ask questions because of her peanut allergy. The waitress was exceedingly kind. It took a bit of time for the check to arrive at our table, but she was very nice about it and apologized for the wait.

The food was decent. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak, and my friend ordered the chicken tenders. The wait time for the food was around 20-25 minutes, so not the worst.

When the food arrived the aroma was pleasant, but the food looked a bit rushed. There was an attempt at presentation, but it was not the prettiest sight. The steak was falling out of the roll, and the cheese did not look fully melted. My friend’s chicken tenders looked good and browned.

When I took a bite into the sub, it was fairly good. I’m a big steak and cheese fan, so I’m a little biased. My friend’s chicken tenders, however, had a bit too much bread. We eventually ended up taking the breaded part off to enjoy the tenders. Overall, the food was not bad, but it could use some improvement.

Quarterdeck Restaurant was a cozy little place. The wood designs were pleasing to the eye, and they had a huge fish tank. I heard from the waitress that they used to have pool tables, but had to get rid of them. The reddish-orange undertone was a nice touch and felt warm.

I noticed the employees barely wore their masks. While I understand cooks tend to get hot and need to breathe a little, it seemed like no other staff were wearing a mask either.

It also was not the cleanest place. Food was scattered around, and the tables took a while to get cleaned. I noticed squirrels lurking around the outside of the restaurant.

When a customer came, they cleaned up the table and set it up nicely, but if they were not expecting a patron, they left the crumbs and food bits on the table and on the ground. This was not the best image.

Overall, I believe there is a lot of passion and care put into the food, but cleanliness is something they might want to work on. If you would like to visit yourself, Quarterdeck restaurant is located on University Drive.
